Reser's Fine Foods

Reser’s Fine Foods Inc. (“Reser’s” or “we”) fully supports California’s efforts to protect human rights and enforce ethical labor practices under the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 (SB 657) (“Act”). Reser’s is proud of its reputation and record for integrity and respect in dealing with our own employees, and expects nothing less of our suppliers in their dealings with their workforce. Reser’s has adopted a Supplier Code of Conduct (“Supplier Code”) which requires, among other things, that our direct suppliers (“suppliers”) ensure that they do not engage in or support forced labor or unlawful child labor. As stated in our Supplier Code, we are committed to “ensuring that working conditions in our supply chain are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that manufacturing processes are environmentally and socially responsible.” Additionally, we expect our suppliers to adopt and maintain terms of employment for their employees that comply with local law and the requirements of our Supplier Code.

Supplier Code of Conduct

Reser’s has always set high standards for conducting business in a socially and environmentally responsible manner, with sound business ethics, and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. In turn, we expect the same commitment from our suppliers. This is why we have established the Reser’s Supplier Code of Conduct. These principles speak to the commitments we make to our customers, our commitment to compliance with law, and our legacy of innovation and relationships built on trust and personal responsibility. We will consider these principles in our selection of suppliers.  Reser’s recognizes that there are different legal and cultural environments in which Suppliers operate throughout the world. This Code outlines the minimum requirements that Suppliers must meet to do business with Reser’s. We encourage our Suppliers to ensure that this Code is communicated throughout our supply chain.

Forced Labor

Reser’s Suppliers will not use forced or involuntary labor of any type (e.g., forced, bonded, indentured or involuntary prison labor). Reser’s Suppliers will not use child labor. The term “child” refers to any person employed under the minimum age for employment in the country where work is performed. We support the use of legitimate workplace apprenticeship programs which comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Wages and Working Hours

Reser’s Suppliers will, at a minimum, comply with all applicable wage and hour laws and regulations, including those relating to minimum wages, overtime hours, piece rates and other elements of compensation, and provide legally mandated benefits. Suppliers shall maintain reasonable employee work hours in compliance with local standards and applicable national laws of the countries and regions in which the Supplier does business. Reser’s requires Suppliers to comply with the statutory requirements for working hours for employees. Reser’s will not use Suppliers that, on a regularly scheduled basis, require employees to work in excess of the statutory requirements, unless those employees are properly compensated as required by applicable law.

Health and Safety

Reser’s Suppliers will provide their employees with a safe and healthy workplace in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and sound industry practice. Consistent with these obligations, Reser’s Suppliers must have and implement effective programs that encompass life safety, incident investigation, chemical safety, ergonomics, and other relevant protective elements.

Nondiscrimination

Reser’s Suppliers will not discriminate in hiring and employment practices on grounds of race, religion, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy, political affiliation, or disability, subject to local law.

Protection of the Environment

Reser’s Suppliers will operate in a manner that is protective of the environment. At a minimum, Suppliers must comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations and sound industry practice.  Suppliers must also comply with any additional environmental requirements as called for in Reser’s specifications, and contract documents.

Respect and Dignity

Reser’s Suppliers will treat all employees with respect and will not use corporal punishment, threats of violence or other forms of physical coercion or harassment. Supplier should have a policy that prohibits inappropriate conduct and a process for employees to report such conduct for Supplier’s investigation and resolution.
