RECALL PROTOCOL

No one in the food business wants to be involved in a product recall situation, but experience has shown that companies that have a crisis plan in place that is tested and re-evaluated regularly are best able to properly execute an actual recall and recover successfully from it.

Resers Fine Foods has a very detailed crisis plan and functioning crisis committee established to direct recall activites and communications, should they ever become necessary. The committee has planned for almost any conceivable product or plant emergency, and regularly uses mock recalls to test our capabilites at tracing products from our production facilities to our customers.

Our computer based PKMS system allows product tracking on a very rapid basis, most often taking just minutes to locate any shipment of product. Our third party auditors also test this capability with live, sometimes off hours mock recalls during our annual third party audits. We can routinely demonstrate the ability to locate 100% of manufactured products well within industry standards of two hours, including time needed to prepare necessary communications to customers, regulatory agencies, employees, and any other stakeholders.

Reser's has model statements instantly available for nearly any crisis, and key managers have had training in crisis communications. We have also made arrangements to be able to have a 24 hour, toll free hot line up and operational within hours of an emergency. It is our hope and belief that we will never need to use the programs we have in place, but are confident that they will see us through any crisis situation, should one ever develop.
