Mayonnaise

Mayo: When to use fat-free, and when to splurge!

In the last decade, the fat-free craze swept the nation. Unfortunately, so did a lot of well meaning, but tasteless (and less satisfying) foods.

3 Tips:

  1. Use “real” mayo when making crab salad, chicken salad, or serving a dish to special guests.
  2. If you are trying to cut calories, use “light” mayo instead of fat free. This will cut the calories but retain most of the taste and texture.
  3. Try blending Greek yogurt with fat free mayo in dishes that call for regular mayo. This will provide a rich, smooth texture with half the calories! Plus, your guests will never know the difference.
