Mayo: When to use fat-free, and when to splurge!
In the last decade, the fat-free craze swept the nation. Unfortunately, so did a lot of well meaning, but tasteless (and less satisfying) foods.
3 Tips:
- Use “real” mayo when making crab salad, chicken salad, or serving a dish to special guests.
- If you are trying to cut calories, use “light” mayo instead of fat free. This will cut the calories but retain most of the taste and texture.
- Try blending Greek yogurt with fat free mayo in dishes that call for regular mayo. This will provide a rich, smooth texture with half the calories! Plus, your guests will never know the difference.
